Colorado Bend State Park:
..at your own risk..

At Lampasas Debra notice the sign to the state park West of town.  We were uninjured and thought; 'why not' slip on down the road and take a look.  The park is at the end of ~25 miles of road that is really only there to get tourist, fishermen and kayak-ers to the park.  Not a bad drive and we were hopeful for amazing vistas. Two things were noted right off the bat.  First a great view from a low-water crossing.

Followed by a sign we have never seen at any state park.
I learned later the sign was not a joke.   The  park is kind of odd in that you have to drive all the way in to the river section to check-in and pay.  Then drive back if you are interested in anything else.  On the banks of the Colorado River the fishing seemed to be good and we were awash in kayak-ers and Boy Scouts.  The scenery was very nice.
